Tap Host a Game, pick your character, then Share Invite Link. Friends open the link (it starts with schemersofvenice.com/join/) or tap Join a Game and type the four-letter room code. Rooms are invite-only: there is no public lobby, so you only ever play with people who have your code or link.

Yes. Everything works without one. Signing in with Apple (Menu › Account) only adds stats that follow you between devices.

Yes: Play the Computer works any time, even with no internet connection.

When everyone is in the same room, open schemersofvenice.com/table on a laptop connected to a TV (or an iPad), and join the room from there. It shows the whole table big, and its camera and microphone are the room's. On your phones, leave I'm at the table screen on: your phone becomes your private hand, with its camera, mic and sound off so nothing echoes. Friends playing from elsewhere see your room on one big tile.

• In the app: open the iPhone's Settings › Schemers › and turn on Camera and Microphone.
• In a browser: allow the camera when the browser asks. If you said no before, tap the address bar's site settings and allow it again.
• Close other apps that are using the camera (video calls, for example), then tap the camera button again.

Tap anywhere on the screen once: phones only play sound after a tap. If you're at the table screen, your phone stays quiet on purpose and the table plays the sound. Your own mic starts muted; tap Mic to talk.

No, never. Video and sound go live to the players at your table and are not stored anywhere. A red LIVE sign shows whenever your camera or mic is on.

Tap their seat at the table (or the flag next to their name in the waiting room), then Report or Block. Reporting hides and mutes them for you straight away and sends the report to us; we review it within 24 hours and remove and ban people who break the rules. Blocking hides and mutes them now and in future rooms, and they aren't told.

Playing with other people and using the camera are for ages 13 and up. Anyone can play the computer.

In the app or on the website: Menu › Account › Delete Account. Apple asks you to confirm, then your account and all your stats are deleted and Sign in with Apple is disconnected. If you can't get in, email us and we'll delete it for you.

Very little, and never your video or sound. The privacy policy lists all of it.
